Found this in a Japanese Navy magazine during my recent visit to Tokyo. This image of HK was taken by a crew from the IJN Grand fleet visiting Hong Kong. The fleet arrived on 28 April 1928 The large vessel on the left (party cut off) is Dreadnought Battleship Matsu (奥陆).She was the second ship of the Nagato class. She was commissioned in 1922.

That's a good view, with the Central Fire Station in the foreground and the Peninsula Hotel over in Kowloon. Both were new when this photo was taken.
