C.E. Warren & Co. Ltd. ad for A.R.P. black out equipment
Authors:

This C.E. Warren & Co. Ltd advert for black out materials and A.R.P. equipment is from the SCMP 10 April, 1940. Leslie Warren, the company manager and member of the HKVD Signals Corps must have agreed for his company to be an outlet for these. The advert refers to "the next black out". When did the black out drills start and how were they imposed?

Just gleaning from the newspapers, the first blackour drill commenced on 21 March 1937. Thereafter, a series of blackout drills and air raid warnings were carried out up until 1941.

Thanks for following this up, moddsey. So the blackout drills continued for more than four years. I suppose the notifications to the public were first published in the newspapers and then reinforced by radio.
