1938 Repulse Bay Hotel

I was trying to find out the date when Eucliffe was built ... I have this photo of my father (George Pio-Ulski) and his orchestra standing outside in the gardens of the Repulse Bay Hotel and it looks like there is still scaffolding on Eucliffe.

My father came to HK from Shanghai in November 1937 so this photo must have been taken in 1938 but I don't have a date :(

I would appreciate any information about the approximate date if anyone knows :)

Date picture taken (may be approximate):

I haven't got anything more accurate than "the 1930s" yet, please see:

Thanks for that, David.  Much appreciated :)

If it was built in the early 1930s then perhaps the scaffolding was there for maintenance work in 1938?!

It's possible the part to the left was built first, and the other part, under scaffolding in your photo, a few years later.

Here's the view in 1946: http://image.hnol.net/c/2010-03/31/22/2010033122142031712-200765.jpg
