The initial reclamation work for the new sports field was almost completed during my time at R.A.F. Little Sai Wan in 1957/8.  By 1959 it had been grassed over.  On holiday in Hong Kong in 1981, I saw that more of the bay was being infilled.  By late 1987, when I paid a nostalgic visit to the old camp, just before it was demolished, work was well under way to infill the rest of the bay.  What we called the Point, on the left of this photograph, is where the current promenade ends.  All that remains of the R.A.F. camp is the old road down (now a well lit path), a few small aerial masts that are almost hidden in the dense vegetation that covers the hillsides and the place round the Point where we scrambled across the rocks to our sunbathing spot on some flat rocks (now a favourite place for schoolchilden to play), and for a few men to go fishing.

More or less the same view in 1987 - see that folder for my comments.
