Today the trees on the hillsides make it hard to see the whole site, so this is a great view.

Interesting to see the slopes below the battery are already changing from grass to thicker undergrowth in this photo. Are todays trees a natural expansion of that undergrowth, or were trees planted there at some point?

yep, been reforested over decades as part of Lung Fu Shan country park, according to AFCD

Thanks for the links. I'd rather see the trees trimmed back a bit now, to give open views out from the battery site.

Really thanks for your historic photo database as it is so good to see the history of Hong Kong. 

Actually I am from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and we are now planning to design a new sets of information panel about Pinewood Battery.  I would like to know whether we include your photos into our panels, and see what is the process to get these photos.
