Whampoa Dockyard Staff Quarters
Looking at the photo of the tennis court with the staff quarters in the background, I realise that this is the building that most of the photos of my father (John Frederick Coleman) were taken.
Can you tell me if the quarters were divided into flats? Thanks.
Austin Coates's book,
Austin Coates's book, "Whampoa, Ships on the Shore", has a chapter (part VIII, chapter 1) about life at the dockyards. It says that the European staff houses were built in terraces, so I think the photo above shows three houses, with two entrances visible.
