Wedding Annie Sanderson Smith born Petersen_Gwulo.jpg

The wedding between Mr. John Sanderson Smith, of Messrs. Luhring and Smith Bros, and Miss Annie Bertha Petersen, youngest daughter of my Great-Grandparents Mary Uschmann (born Towamoy) and Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Petersen, took place on February 7, 1921 at St Andrew's Church, Kowloon. Mr. H Sieling, Manager of the Orient Tobacco Factory, gave the bride away. I think he should be the gentlemen on the right side of the bride. On the occasion of the wedding between Mr Henry William Weyler, Manager of the Netherlands India Commercial Bank, and Miss Mary Margaret Petersen (sister of Annie Bertha) in 1919 he also gave the bride away.

Mr. S.D. Begg of Messrs. Butterfiled and Swire was "best man" - I think he is the gentleman standing at the left side of John Sanderson Smith.

The lady at the right side of Mr. Sieling is my Great-Grandmother Mary Uschmann. I do not know who the lady is at the right side of my Great-Grandmother - maybe Mrs. Sieling?

The article says that after the wedding a reception was held at the Station Hotel, Kowloon. I think the picture was taken in the garden at the rear of the building as the front side of the hotel looks different.
