The small car in the backgound is very similar to one that appears in a number of 1930s RAF Kai Tak pictures

Good photo. Have seen the tracks but not the locomotive. In 1934, arrangements were made for bulk cargo destined for Canton to be loaded directly onto railway wagons at the KWGC siding, under Customs supervision.

KCR Locomotive at Kowloon Wharf.
It's useful to see another rare photograph of one of the first two Kitson 2-6-4 tank locomotives ordered in 1909. Only locomotives Nos. 1 and 2 of this class of engine had inside cylinders. The next six engines (Nos. 3 - 8) of this class, ordered between 1912 and 1915, had their cylinders outside the locomotive frame. These engines were shipped to the Middle East in 1939 at the start of the 2nd World War.
