Each Watch or large group of airmen held an annual Christmas dinner down at one of the retaurants in Central. It made a change from the, often not very good, food in the Airmen's Mess. Some airmen basically lived on the better food that they could buy in the N.A.A.F.I. in rooms above the Mess.
