Ted was standing on the high ground to the North of the cathedral. The wooden huts of the Cheero Club were erected on the old Murray barracks parade ground some time shortly after the end of the Second World War. The dormitories were in the hut on the left and the lounge, billiard and table tennis room, and cafeteria in the building on the edge of the slope overlooking the tramway on Queen's Road and the cricket ground. A bed at the Cheero Club cost just HK$1 - a bargain price only equalled by that at the China Fleet Club.
