Big Wave Bay was the nearest beach to Little Sai Wan, and our favourite one - but it was a hard slog up the camp road and over the flank of Pottinger Peak and back again. In the 1950s there was no cafe on the beach, no showers and probably nowhere to buy a drink in the village, which was mainly a few small farms.
