Photo my grandmother M.G. Marks-Groot sent home to the Netherlands around 1925. On the reverse side she wrote (in Dutch): "Chinese farmhouse of an older age, laid out as a fortress because of the many robberies".

This is Tsang Tai Uk walled village in Shatin. Suprisingly, it is still there today.
