Hi David,

I don't remember a school in Whitfield Barracks, I went to St Georges School, and friends of mine fathers were in the Army & they lived in Whitfield Barracks, I used to spend time there with them. Mind you I was 15/16yrs then. My sister,  younger than me used to go to Gun Club Hill School on the back of an Army truck!

when we first arrived in HK we were put up in THE RITZ HOTEL - Austin Ave - b4 we went to CHL. I could not find it when I came back after 54yrs!!!

Sorry I don't remember a school there.

Regards

Di R

Thanks Di, I haven't heard of the school before, so maybe it was only open for a short time?

I've made a page for the Ritz Hotel at https://gwulo.com/node/43530 so you can see where it was. It's been demolished, but its name lives on as the current building on that site is called Ritz Plaza.

From memory the school was at the bottom end of Nathan road, maybe separate from the army barracks, but it shared the same name.  I believe a mosque is now on the site. But I was only very young so I concede I could possibly be wrong.
