Hi - I think the openings at the back are vents to cool the PB when weapons are in use. They allow the hot air to rise and dissipate outside.
You've done a lot of hiking! Thanks for the photos. Do you have a position (lat/long) for this PB?

We descended from the road, it's quite steep at first... Until you came to a trench, then it became much gentler. After passing some boulder clusters, the pillbox was just in front.
You may also go on downhill to the level walk along the reservoir, but I chose to do dog leg.
