Are the nearer islands the Ap Lei Chau (鴨脷洲) and Lung Shan Pei (龍山排)?

Back ground is Lamma, so I think you are correct. I imagine the captions for these pictures were written some time after the images were taken.
Captions
My father organised all the photos taken during his year in Hong Kong and on the long sea voyage back to the UK almost certainly in one go once home. He was on a cargo vessel and therefore made rather more port calls than a passenger liner would. Given this delay and as he was only in HK for a year, I suppose he was bound to muddle some of the locations, and especially so the outlying islands. Thanks to all who are providing corrections where this has occurred.

Hi There,
It seemed to be as the peak (Stenhouse) at the backgound is Lamma Island alright. The straight drop is unique. The photographer was likely on the then Pokfulam Road.
