Hong Kong, Frontier to Red China. This is the village of Sha Tau Kok. The border between the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China (Red China) runs down the center of the single street in this little village. Note the marker in the foreground. Hong Kong to the left, Red China to the right. People who live in this part of China are predominantly Hakkas - an aborigine race akin to, but too closely allied to the Chinese. They have their own ancestral language and customs. The women are easily distinguishable by the parasol-type hats they wear. Harrison Forman.:
