The road is the bottom
The road is the bottom section of Peel Rise, which runs through the cemetery. It is a popular walking route from the Peak down to Aberdeen, so your family were probably out for a walk, exploring.

Thank you very much. I have a few slides showing us out walking on a similar kind of pathway at various times. I suppose that people catch the tram to the top and walk down? One photo I have shows a road on stilts - would that be the same route?

Sorry for the late reply - I see T has already identified the road on stilts as Lugard Road. That could have been taken on the same day as this one, or it could have been an outing in its own right.
