If you zoom in to the satellite image above, the outline of each is clear to see.
For more information, see the 'Survey of the Devil's Peak Redoubt and Gough Battery'.
Pillbox on a boulder
I could no longer locate the "Survey of the Devil's Peak Redoubt and Gough Battery" file through the above link provided. But I do remember there is a pillbox picture in it. We managed to find it by following the hints given by the author. It is on a big boulder somewhere below the gun emplacements. Here is the approximate location from the street view map.
It only has a single loophole
There is also an inscription on the side that reads 'DP1'. Not sure what it means.
The inside is now only soil and dirt.
We also saw this marker stone when we came down the hill from the gun emplacement. The stone can be moved around and not permanently set into the ground like we usually see from other marker stones. So I don't think this one is related to the War Department, and it could be something being made post-war.
re: Pillbox on a boulder
Hi Freddie,
Thanks for the latest photos. Please could you make a new Place for the pillbox on a boulder? It'll be good to give its own page to coleect future notes & photos.
I've updated the link to the "Survey of the Devil's Peak Redoubt and Gough Battery" document, though it may need to be clicked two times, as with many of the HKU links.
Regards, David
