the flagpole bearing gargoyles by the doors are still there in the current building

My father rented an office in the building in the 1950s-1960s. I still recall the walls of the bank and some neighbouring buildings (built with granite) were pock-marked with cannon fire left during WW2 (Japs or the Allies?)

The bank itself was an elegant building.
