Deepwater Hill
The hill on the right looks to be Brick Hill which now has the Ocean Park cable car running along it, with Deepwater Bay as the bit of water at its base and Middle Island in the middle distance.
Re: Deep Water Hill - towards Wong Chuk Hang/Middle Island
Hi Phil,
The line of sight looked right despite the beach of Deep Water Bay is hidden in the photo. But that would put the photographer somewhere in the Aberdeen Reservoir area. Cannot pin point where as for the time being though. Might be a bit difficult as the area is basically woodlands.
The photographer should be standing a bit higher than the pass between Bennet's Hill and Mount Cameron. probably somewhere along the Aberdeen Reservoir Road, or the Lady Clementi's Ride overlooking the pass.
The grassy area before Brick Hill must be the farm (Paris Farm??) preceedng the Ocean Park.
Best Regards,
T

Phil and T have got the area pinned down. Similar views along the Aberdeen Reservoir trek: http://www.flickr.com/photos/charlesmok/3165262077/ and

Re: Deep Water Hill - towards Wong Chuk Hang/Middle Island
Folks,
I might have taken a photo of the area at approximate location myself a few years ago. Take a look at this:
The location is a little bit higher than the Upper Aberdeen Reservoir, along the Lady Clementi's Ride. I'll have to check my GPS logger archive in order to see if I had this photo tagged. If so, I would have a closer location. If not, I would recognize it the next time I walk by there.
BTW, I had been using a wide angle lens. That was why the photo looked a bit different. I'll try to take another photo using the standard (50-55mm) focal lengh next time. As far as I could recall, I was very likely standing in a picnic area just about slightly more than 10 metres away from the pillbox nearby.
Best Regards,
T
