Walter George ROBINSON (aka W.G. Vaughan-Robinson) [1860-1936]

born Walter George ROBINSON in 1860. He became a merchant in the late 19th century, dealing with musical instruments, plying his wares from China (HK and Shanghai) to the US and England.  He had married Alvilda Olivia OLSEN sometime before 1912.  He later became General Manager circa 1905, perhaps owner, of the Robinson Piano Company, Ltd. In 1912 he purchased a large number of lots on Savary Island, British Columbia, as part of an investment. This island with the warmest waters on the Pacific NW coast, was marketed as "the Catalina of the North".  However, the endeavour, in consort with the Savary Island Park Association, became a fiasco, and he lost money and interest in the endeavour, eventually leaving the bulk of the lots with his wife Alvilda and nephew John Henry Pearson (manger of The Robinson Piano Company) after his death in 1936, in Bournemouth, England. After his wife's death, some of the lots remained with her neices ( Hannah Detweiler and Jenny Parker, nee Olsen). By request, and as noted in his will, no monument nor obituary was signify or edify his existence.
