Einer schöne Tag. Mehl für brot gemahlt. Deutche stunde. Sonnbade an dem Dach. Herr Zindel besuchte. Steve ging für Musik üben. Zwer Luft du griffen?

((Jill's translation:

A fine day. Ground flour for bread. German lesson. Sunbathed on the roof. Mr. Zindel visited. Steve went for music practice. Two air attacks?

A fine day. Ground flour for bread. German lesson. Sunbathed on the roof. Visited Herr Zindel. Steve went for music practice. Two air attacks?

(I'd need to see the manuscript to verify the last sentence. 'Zwer' could be 'Zwei' = 'Two'. My best guess is "Zwei Luftangriffen" - 'u' and 'n' can often be confused.)

Google Translate is correct: 'Herr Zindel besuchte' = 'Herr Zindel visited.' Apologies David. But Harry Ching's diary entry for the same day (18.4.44) mentioning two planes might well match up with a similar comment from Jones. Zwei + two; 'Luft' = air; Angriffe = attacks

"11 a.m. first alert long time. Little plane leading big one round but nothing more. No shooting."
