Morrison Hill Gap Road

Morrison Hill Gap Road appears in Jurors lists at the beginning of the 20th century .... I know where Morrison Hill Road is, and Wanchai Gap Road ... but where is this? I've found a rather nice little advent for 'the cheapest houses in the Colony' ... 4 room houses with offices ('necessary offices') for $40 per month (c.1903)

Hi there,

I believe Gap Road refers to the present day section of Queen's Road East between Kennedy Road and Wong Nei Chong Road.  It was not as wide as today's version and Morrison Hill had not been bulldozed.

Thanks & Best Regards,

T

In Legco records it's referred to as Morrison Gap Road, and agree with Thomas it was the connecting road between Queens Road East and Wong Nai Chung Road Road. See here: The provision in the 1927 Estimates for item 46 only applies to the completion of the retaining walls at the junction of Stubbs Road with Morrison Gap Road and will permit of the widening of this narrow section for traffic―being a road improvement―and not a measure to cope with excessive rainfall. The remaining work on this item cannot be proceeded with until the removal of Morrison Hill is further advanced and until arrangements have been made with the Naval Authorities for the proposed continuation of this road widening scheme. 1926 legco records http://www.legco.gov.hk/1926/h261104.pdf Also Noel Croucher lived at 12 Morrison (Hill) Gap Road in the early 1900s
