No.49 IP Kam-wing was leader of BAAG FIGS Group P formed circa July 1944.  It was an out-growth of Group M which consisted largely of former HK Police Rerservists.

Elizabeth Ride writes:

Ip Kam Wing was one of David Loie's group of police reservists, some of whom were  tragically caught when 'M' group was broken.  He then was picked to lead a new Group, 'P', and was given a new number.  He was the brother-in-law of Lai Chak Po.  I have about 7 entries against his name.  If anyone would like to apply, I will gladly send these.

As far as the main points are, I have gathered the following:

  • His year of birth was about 1913.
  • Before the war he was a stenographer working for the Asiatic Petroleum Co for about 6 years.
  • After the fall of Hongkong he became an assistant in his father's large emporium, the Shui Hing emporium, which was situated near the Dairy Farm  in Nathan Road, Kowloon.
  • My first mention of his BAAG activity is dated June 1942.

Ip Kam Wing was arrested on 15.6.44, and died in Stanley prison on 25.10.44 after suffering severe torture.
