Lee Lup, BAAG.
From the entry for Lee Lup in the BAAG Personnel Register, Ride Collection:
Nationality Chinese-British subject. Born 29.4.15. Citation:
“Before the surrender of Hongkong this man served as a L/Cpl in the Hongkong Chinese Regiment. After the surrender, he evaded capture and escaped to Free China, and reported to the BAAG for further duties (15th June 1942). He was employed at first on the dangerous duties of runner, making numerous journeys in and out of Hongkong to AHQ with intelligence reports and on some occasions bringing out escape parties. When it became inadvisable to keep him on these duties any longer owing to possible detection by the enemy, he was transferred to security section at HQs, and here his experience in the field was of great value in training counter-espionage agents. Throughout his long service, he consistently displayed bravery and ability of an outstanding order.”
