1/4 mile stone
Anyone know 1/4 mile from what? Would be good to know. It's not the current post office location as that's about 800 metres away. Was the post office previously closer to the ferry? Or was the measurement from something else?
Re: Probably from the Pier
Hi there,
Probably from the Ferry Pier, where the South Lan Tau Road started. The Pier didn't change much in the past few decades despite various stages of the road had been widened, if you have some tools, or simply use your own steps to measure, you should be able to come up with the approximate location of the 1/4 mile location.
Try to find an older copy of Map as reference as the current lanes are likely different then those in the mid-1950's where the construction started.
A note, I have a faint impression that the current pier (with the vehicular ferry pier) had been constructed sometime in the 1970s or 1980s, when they started using those bigger ferreis with three decks. Could not recall exactly when, for now.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Mr T,
Thanks Mr T,
I used the measure distance function in google maps and got close to the ferry pier but it was more than 1/4 mile, more like 500 metres. Close enough though, i guess.
Thanks for relplying!
