Tai Ka-yin was my paternal grandfather. Prior to WWII, he was an intepreter for the RHKP. During the Japanese occupation, he and his associates worked for the BAAG and due to unfortunate events were uncovered and imprisoned. Some months prior to the end of the war they were executed in Big Wave Bay on HK island. It wasn't until well after the war that this was discovered and remains from the mass grave were discovered. They have since been reinterred in a cemetary in Diamond Hill. Markers honoring him and some of his associates can be found in the Stanley miliatry cemetery.
Ben - this is an extract from a postwar statement dated October 12th 1945: "... [Tai Ming] carried information to and from Hongkong/Waichow furnished by the No 1 [EMR: Ng Tak Cheung] and another man - Tai Ka Yin [EMR: Chinese characters] - a British pre-war Police interpreter who was actually executed by the Japanese. The matter was reported to the BAAG department in Waichow and was recorded there ...".
