Hi Mike,

We don't have much, but we've got a few brief mentions in this thread: http://gwulo.com/atom/15973

The book "Watching Over Hong Kong: Private Policing 1841-1941" would also be worth a look.

Do you have any family connections with them?

Regards, David

There is quite a bit of information,(text and photographs) on this body in the publication " Wharf - The First Hundred Years " which may perhaps still be obtained from Harbour City Estates Ltd,World Finance Centre,Harbour City.

A number of  Shanghai Policmen, from the late 1945 contingent to the HKP,joined this Force on completion of their HKP contracts. The Wharf Police were disolved in 1995.They wore uniform similar to the HKP,blues in winter but a better quality barathea in summer. They had a distinctive and large cap badge and wore a textile flash ' Wharf Police' on the upper arm. They opearated under an Ordinance, had access to arms ( 0.38 revolver and 12 bore shotguns) and in the early 1960s comprised 7 Officers and 120 Other Ranks, the whole commanded by a Superintendent. I recall Rhodes ( ex SMP ) and Brunning as SPs.

Thanks for the info.
