Any ideas what that old building was? (Or where, I can't spot where we're looking at.)

Good to see there were still patches of low-rise and greenery in mid-levels.

That looks like Conduit Road in the upper part of the photograph.

This was just after I arrived in Hong Kong and my company put me in a leave flat - I think it was 62 Robinson Road.  I hope that may help you to pinpoint that old building.

I've spotted a building I recognise - up at the top, slightly left of centre is a very skinny building. That's Ivory Court on Conduit Road, matching Ian and Cliff's descriptons. I guess the old building is on or near the site of today's Elegant Terrace.

I've found the old building on a 1986 map. It's 57, Robinson Road.

I walked down Robinson Road this morning and Elegant Terrace is No. 61. But the building next door (extreme bottom left of photograph) still exists and is No. 55.
