The reason I'm fairly certain that it is a fish farm is that I specifically noticed the netting above the water (to keep birds away?) and because there were several very similar ponds close by - see the photographs near that one, on one of which the netting is much more visible. If you look at my 1981 photographs you will see one (hopefully inserted below) with a much larger area of water that has a hut on stilts that definitely has some ducks on the water and no netting. On second thoughts, the photograph below might be of a larger fish farm with a few ducks as extras! Any thoughts. Best wishes, Andrew

Fish ponds are likely much bigger. This might likely be one of the duck farms in the NT back then.
