Phillip Bruce wrote extensively about Hong Kong's history, both in full book format (Second to None: The Story of the Hong Kong Volunteers, published by Oxford University Press), and a selection of self-published booklets. I am saddened to learn that Mr. Bruce had passed away. I communicated with him via email years ago, and he was helpful.
