Would it be possible to have some more information please? We are told when this photograph was taken, but not where. Also that it was a searchlight room, but for what exactly? 

Are there any gun positions nearby, for example?

We often find searchlights (Lyons Lights) near to pillboxes in Hong Kong as part of WW2 defences.
