I met Tokkie with Vernon Roberts, Denny Johnston and Gerry Forsgate in the top floor bar of the Gloucester Hotel early in 1959. He went on to be a founder of the Sevens and lived in HK from 1959 to 1983. His life was largely devoted to rugby and he was chair of the HKRFU during the years the Sevens were conceived and started. Surprisingly little is recorded about his life which was cut short by a car accident in 1985 and I am attempting to assemble his personal, business and rugby history from contemporaries.

Hi John - long time no see!
I just spotted your post on Tokkie Smith and whilst I can't personally add anything I will mention it to your former rugby playing colleagues John Dawes and Ian Macaulay when I meet them for lunch later this month in the hope that they can help.
Last time you and I met was at your home in Vancouver back in 1968, whilst on my way to the Jaycee Congress in Toronto. How time flies when you are having fun!
Hope you are well and very best regards - Frank Waller

Best Regards - Frank
PS: My hearing is not too good these days so I struggle on the phone (sigh!)
