The address appears in the 1894 Jurors List, and Annelise has found several references to it:
1. There is a listing as early as 1885 for Mrs. B and Miss Shepherd, "Harperville"
2. 1905 Jurors lists shows
"Knox, Lefferts .. China Mutual Insurance, Harperville, Robinson Road
3. In 1914, his [Noel Croucher] address was 9 Garden Road, known either as Harperville or Harper's Villa, owned by Li Tsze- chiu and managed by J.H. Seth. this too apears to have been a boarding house or bachelor's mess. [or "private hotel" perhaps - Annelise]

A To Let advert appears for Harperville in the 1865-06-02 edition of the Hong Kong Daily Press - Apply to D Lapraik (28th March 1865) i would put its completion date c1864/65. Demolished c1930 or a little earlier
For the location No 7 Garden Road is on the eastern edge of lot IL 648 on the 1901 map. The building is a two storied structure that appears in pictures from the mid 1860s onwards located just behind the Albany where 1 Robinson Road is today.

I note the address is given as number 7 or 9 at different times. Do you know if this section of Garden Road was re-numbered?
