For LizB - I think the house may be 13 York Road when viewed from Rutland Quadrant. The tower that juts out looks similar to the present day structure. The exterior wall pattern is quite similar. Cheers!

Really interesting to see. I'm sure they're one and the same. Only additions/changes to the exterior that I can see since the 1947 photo was taken are the extra floor on both sides of the 'tower' and an extra window between the two large windows on the lower floor (to the right). Possibly some extra windows on the curved left-side floor as well.
