Some of those buildings still exist today.  Please see the long buildings with tiles in Orange in the URL.  They have been refurbished and re-purposed.

Thank you very much for the info. I have looked at the Discovery Centre and can see what you mean. It seems to be a good conversion of an old building. Worthwhile for the local inhabitats and visitors to HK
