George and Violet Harris stanley interment camp 1944

Hi,

I have information on a George and Dolores Harris. His mother's married name was Cheung. Dolores was his second wife (after Violet passed away) and they had three sons.

I am not a direct relative. My older cousin living in Melbourne is the only son of a Richard da Silva (my father's older brother) who married Georges sister Hazel just before war broke out. I am in possession of a multi page pdf document written by one of the younger Harris sons (Ted - his wartime memoirs written in 1997) which I would like to post on GWULO to add to it's large collection of wartime diaries but this response does not permit me to attach the document. David,you may be able to advise on this, I have sent it onto Patricia O'Sullivan as the memoirs mention an O'Sullivan family and I thought there may have been a link but I have not heard back from Patricia.

I am in a position to put you in touch with Georges nephew in Melbourne to further your enquiries as Georges children from his first marriage are unknown to me but my cousin may be able to provide you with more information on his first cousins from his mother's side. I believe that Ted's widow is still alive in Melbourne and has given me permission to share Ted's memoirs.

I have just separately sent (tried) pdf to David, it's big, 12.8MB could be Patricia O'sullivan never got it but I have not received any bounced notifications so it's up there somewhere in the clouds. I hope David gets it and if not then maybe he can advise me how to 'shrink' it.

My name is Vicki Rando & lm the fourth daughter of Grace Marie McAuliffe (Harris).my mother's family were repatriated to Australia in 1945 on the vindec. Violet was pregnant with her 9th child but sadly died with the baby they named Eric in a Sydney hospital

Hello I'm a direct descendant of George Beresford Harris and Violet harris, I am their granddaughter.

I am their granddaughter, they survived with their 8children and came to Australia on the vindex. Sadly violet with the baby they named Eric died in childbirth & they are buried in Sydney. My mother is Grace Marie harris

Sorry for not replying sooner, have been in Houston TX attending 'another' funeral and was not able to access GWULO on my mofile phone, have only just got home to Brissy. I managed to put Judy on to George's nephew in Melbourne and am surprised that she has not responded to your post on GWULO. Do you wish to connect with your cousins (I am not one of them, I am a first cousin to one of your cousins from the other side of the marriage).

Hi Bob, Judy did make contact with me & her husband is the half brother of my mother, so we have been trading information. We do know each other & see her when they come to melbourne

Have you been in touch with Robert's family then? They live in Bonbeach and are descended from Hazel Harris who was married to my Uncle Richard. We were in Melbourne in September this year and pity we could not have arranged a gathering.

No l haven't, l found this site a couple of years ago but mum's family wasn't on the camp list. We took mum back to Hong Kong 3years ago & she sadly passed away 5mths ago , so l came back on last week & found all their names .
