Thanks for uploading the photos - I still haven't visited these 31x pillboxes and will have to get around to it.

Yes, the metal brackets held the frames for a simple bed. They'd be folded up against the wall when out of use. I think I've seen a photo of one in Hong Kong where the frame can still be seen.

You may be thinking of PB21 at Chung Hom Kok which still has some of the metal pipes of its bed frames ( www.gwulo.com/node/1691 ).
