There is actually a street sign on the stone wall, but unable to read.  See if you can read it in the original photo.

Think Canton Road. The slope that goes up to the Marine Police Headquarters.

Moddsey is right, this is Canton Road by Salisbury Road. I think the tree is still there (unlike everything else).

Thank you so much for the link to the current view. I am struck with the palm trees planted along the road. I don’t ever remember seeing native palm trees in “old Hong Kong”
