This is unashamedly a composite of two different photos taken on the same occasion. I rescued a tiny charred fragment showing an elephant in mid-air from the fireplace - you can clearly see the burn marks - and combined it with a broader, less interesting shot that sets it in context.

Circus visits
I recall a German circus - "Circus Busch" - visiting in the 1950s, and setting up a large tent on (I think) the new Causeway Bay reclamation before the park was developed.
