"Mr B.D. Evans, of the Royal Observatory, Kowloon, was fined $5 by Mr. A.W.G.H. Grantham at the Kowloon Magistracy this morning for allowing his dog to wander unmuzzled in Nathan Road at 10.45 a.m. on February 2."

Appointment of Benjamin Davies Evans as Assistant Director of the Observatory. Trained at Greenwich. Arrived in Hong Kong in 1912 as assistant and acted as Chief Assistant on several occasions. From 1917 to 1919 he was seconded for military service. Hong Kong Daily Press 11 July 1932

Appointed Director in 1941 on the passing of C. W. Jeffries.
