For something a bit different, we've written up a walk around Wanchai. If you have any visitors, and are looking for something to keep them busy for a couple of hours, could you see if they'll try it?

I'm interested to get any feedback on whether it's an interesting route or not, and if any of the directions aren't clear.

If you don't have easy access to a printer, you can also pick up a printed street map from the tourist association offices: http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/mustknow/services/index.jhtml

Here's another approach - follow the route as seen by satellite: http://gwulo.com/articles/overlay.htm (If you haven't played with Google Maps before, you can click the "+" and "-" buttons to zoom in and out, and you can also click-and-drag the map to see other areas of Hong Kong - or in fact the whole world.)

you guys must be really tough to go out wallking in this sweltering heat. Down at a pool at about 11am, I saw a few people braving the heat. They even took their toddlers. All I can say is they were not chinese. No chinese would be crazy enough to expose themselves unnecesarily in the midday sun...would they?

You're right - not the best weather for walking the streets of Hong Kong! I'd be avoiding the midday sun too, keeping my pasty Gweilo skin away from the rays. I wish I had skin like MrsB - she can get a tan from a fluorescent tube. If you want to see Chinese children soaking up the rays, try visiting the public pools. The kids who swim regularly look like little pandas with their deep tan and pale eye-rings from their swimming goggles. MrB
