Michael Lee Bevan is the artist whose Stanley sketches appeared postwar in London Illustrated News.

Michael Lee Bevan was the son of Richard Aubrey Chichester Bevan and Lady Mary Winifreda Walgrave who married in 1900 in London. His father was a Clerk in Holy Orders. His mother was the daughter of an Earl.

In 1911 he was living in a 23 roomed house with his parents, siblings and seven live in servants The family employed a governess, a cook, a kitchen maid, 2 housemaids, a parlour maid and a house boy. (A far cry from Stanley Camp)
