Henry ("Harry") Easthope Budden was interned in the Shamshuipo POW camp, where he died in 1943.  The rest of the family - his wife, son and daughter were interned at Stanley, where his son Gilbert also died in 1943.  Mrs Budden and Barbara, their daughter, returned to the UK after the war.

Harry Budden was a keen Freemason, having been Master of a lodge in Portsmouth prior to coming to Hong Kong, as well as the United Service Lodge in Hong Kong and a founding member of Cathay Lodge in 1922.  His son Gilbert also belonged to Cathay Lodge.  Harry and Gilbert Budden are commemorated at Cathay Lodge with a clock where the numbers 1 to 12 have been replaced with the letters HARRYGILBERT.

Thanks for the extra information about Harry, which I've added above.

Note Barbara wrote that Gilbert was at Shamshuipo POW camp, not Stanley.

Regards, David

The date of his death was 9th October 1943 at the Jubilee Building Sick Quarters in Shamshuipo Camp, aged 62.

Thanks for clarifying that point.
