Timeline:
- 1845: West Point noted, without detail, in report. (MPHH 1/465).
- 1855: Bty disabled and detachment withdrawn in January, following a dispute over premises used as barracks by troops. (WO 1/481).
- 1857: Several letters referring to the proposed site of West Point Bty, indicating a dispute between Military and Government. Area possibly already in private ownership: possibly below high-water mark. (CO 129/403). May interfere with proposed Praya extension. (CO 129/64).
- 1865: Un-named Bty on the coast west of Possession Point, at West Point. (MPHH 1/465).
