I have been discussing with Craig Mitchell and Tony Banham a wonderful per war picture of Postbridge, home of the Tinsons. ((To view photo, see top of third page in this document.))
Major Tinson died when his home became part of the front line and was shelled and mortared to a ruin. His wife Eileen was caught up in the massacre at the Salesian Mission Building and was eventually incarcerated at Stanley having lost both her home and husband. The site is now occupied by Celestial Gardens. The prewar photo also shows Holmsdale which still exists ....... I never realised the building was I unchanged. I discovered the picture by looking at a link in Tonys War Diary for this month on subject of Brigadier Lawson .... The author had entitled the photo as the home of the Lawson family in Hull ........... On first looking it was obviously Postbridge. .......... I had always wondered what it looked like...... I have never seen a photo of it before or other other houses on Repulse Road per war other than the Ridge.

I've been sent a photo of a building and on the back it says Front Entrance to Postbridge
it'll be circa 1937 as all the other photos sent to me are from that time.

Postbridge
This was the home in 1941 of George Gwinett Noble Tinson, a partner in JSM, who died in his home from gunshot wounds when his beautiful home came to be on the front line (19th Dec 1941). The house was occupied by HKSRA and HKRNVR - the latter having been sent up early that mornming to investigate reported fifth columnist signalling. Members of the RN contingent who were ambushed as they drove up in trucks to WNC Gap joined the garrison. Tinson's wife Eileen was at the Salesian Mission Building that night 18/19th where she witnessed the killing of military and civil medical staff. I have only seen one other photo of Postbride so its great to see another pic from a different direction.
Does anybody know when it was built and whether the Tinsons were the first occupants or have any more photos.
