Likely owned or rented by H B L Dowbiggin. Jane, his grand-daughter, writes:

My mother mentioned that where the X is ((on the 1934 photo below)) was her bedroom in one of the pictures, so either they rented it or owned it, ...at least lived in it at one point. Prior to the invasion he had often rented out the big house if only himself was in HK........evidently this quite a common practise for himself and other to do.......it appears he had several flats at Happy Valley and in the end moved into quarters at the race course.....
