I'm looking for photos / sketches / portraits of him for the CPS project's history book.

Details of birth & death taken from the Dictionary of Hong Kong Biography. It also mentions that he was appointed acting Police Magistrate in 1880, the first Chinese person to take this role. It is his connection with the CPS project. It also shows a good photo of Ng Choy.

I searched for choy in

  • the photo search at HKPRO: nothing
  • HK Public Library photo collection: nothing
  • HK Museum of History: good photo of him in his horsehair wig & robes

He served in Legco, and they have a photo (cropped from photo at Museum of History): http://app.legco.gov.hk/member_front/english/library/member_detail.aspx?id=539

No relevant results for ng choy hong kong in the UKNA.

There are more photos of him in later life, when he had government posts with the pre- and post-revolutionary government in CHina, see: https://www.google.com/search?q=Wu+Tingfang&safe=active&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=8x2nUYu6PMWpiAeA9oDYBQ&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1124&bih=738

The book "Wu Tingfang (1842 - 1922)" by HKU Press (1992) is your best source for info, but no photos therein.

Thanks Adam.
