Noted a Letter for sale at an auction site in 2013 from E .M. Raymond of Block A4 Room 1 of Stanley Camp to Private Philip Samuel of Sham Shui Po Camp. Mr. Raymond is covered in the HK Sunday Herald dated 28 April 1935. From the front page as seen here , scroll to pages 8 and 11.
Oh that name sounds super familiar. He was also the St John Ambulance Brigade Commisioner from 1939-1947. His predecessor, the well respected Alfred Morris (18th June 1874-8th July 1945) (SJAB Commissioner from 1930-1939), left (resigned) under a cloud. Big controversy at the time in the local papers when the HK Government was accused of taking over the running of the SJAB (which they admitted they had no jurisdiction) as it confused the SJAB members about the hierarchical lines of responibility. The looming threat of war was the impetus for the organizational overhaul of the HK branch of the SJAB at the time.
