Primary tabs
Born 1932 in Naval Hospital, The Peak. Father was ex-Royal Navy, Chinese Maritime Customs Officer. The family, along with the family of my father, were interned at the hands of the Japanese in Chapei Prison Camp in Shanghai. They were all liberated by the Americans after the surrender and were offered repatriation to UK shortly afterwards. My mother's family, minus her father (who chose to remain in Hong Kong), went back to the UK on HMS Belfast.
My parents were married in 1952 during a typhoon, at Christchurch on Waterloo Rd, Kowloon. My father worked for the HK government, and Mum worked for Hong Kong Bank in the original building on Des Veoux Rd for 28 years.
My father, Alan, died in Oct 2009 and Peggy passed away in September 2012.
